SPOONYARD AW24 CAMPAIGN

The team shooting at the amazing Alum Quarry on the edge of the cliffs!

A few years ago, I had an email completely out of the blue from Hong Kong! I’m not really sure where they had seen my work, but I think it was probably Nigel Cabourn. They had a brand called SPOONYARD and they wanted to know if I would shoot it using UK locations! I was buzzing, its very rare to get an email from a completely unknown source and for them to commission you for a campaign, it’s the dream really! Anyway, we went to the beautiful lake district and shot their SS23 campaign.

We obviously did a decent job as I had the same email again a few months back. This time the brief was completely different and instead of greenery and nature they wanted the face of the moon! I immediately thought of 2 places that I knew quite well, The South Gare at Redcar and Sandsend Alum Quarries. Both of the locations give a weird and other worldly feeling when you’re there and really can feel out of this world!

INSPIRATIONS + production

Due to Spoonyard being based in HK it’s a perfect job for us and 2812 Studio as we can handle the full production. We found the locations, we cast the models and we employ the team. The model is always the part that is the toughest to get nailed with the client, a lot of back and forward with agencies and the client. We settled on the brilliant Feranmi Ayeni from Kult Models. He was a brilliant kid, because we were shooting locally we could put him up in The Artists Pad which was ideal.

FINAL SHOTS

After a number of back and forth with the client on retouch and treatment we got to the final product. Casting and Location made the shoot for me! That and the fact that we had such good weather on the day!

Really happy with the final results and its nice to see them out there and being used over in HK, would love to see some shots of the billboard!
